Psychological counselling provides a safe, confidential space to explore, and come to understand better places of pain, distress and suffering. In the light of this understanding, we can find new ways of relating to these difficulties and to begin to let go of unhelpful struggles. With courage, and commitment to the things that matter most to you, it is possible to find and cultivate our human potential for wisdom, kindness, courage, and compassion.
You learn specific skills for working with turbulent thoughts, difficult emotions and unhealthy behaviors and to cultivate calm, resilience, clarity, wisdom.
During the sessions you will be in the driving seat and we will work together to address the things that are important to you. You will have space to reflect and speak openly and I will listen carefully. I will provide some information to contextualize our work and we will practice some skills to help you manage difficult thoughts and feelings more effectively – such as mindful awareness, emotion regulation, skillful perspective taking – all to help you take compassionate, effective action in the face of difficulty and move forward in your life.
Areas that can be addressed:
– chronic fatigue and sleeping problems
– stress and burnout
– emotional eating
– anxiety and worrying
– depression and sadness
– life transitions
– difficulty focusing and emotional reactivity
– chronic pain and illness
You acquire tools and practices that can bring mental and emotional balance, clarity and peace of mind. The promise is not that you will not have to face difficulties again or that you will no longer experience the heights and depths of emotions but you will learn to respond to them in healthier manner.
The approach incorporates new findings from Neuroscience, Cognitive Psychology, Medicine, together with Contemplative practices (meditative practices, breathing, light movement, visualizations).
